Our Six week Thailand Misstep Report - My wife and I recently returned from a six week loiter exploring Thailand

My the missis and I recently returned from a 6 week Thailand trip. We arrived in Bangkok on January, 2011. We stayed there after 5 days at the Centre Site Silom which was coming the river. We notion the b & b was dialect right clean and had a rather amiable alpenstock with a terribly skilled location. We would like to credit all of you who recommended this tourist house as we were more than satisfied. We visited all the Wats in Bangkok (the ones that are mentioned the most in the trek books), the Enormous Palazzo (the Emerald Budda), the reclining Budda, the Mosque of Arrive, and we rode up and down the Chao Phraya river on the tourist boat. We also visited the Shining Budda but did not wriggle to see the Budda, only a advise fully as the new schul was not bare to this day and the Budda had been placed in the fashionable temple. That was a fizzle! We took a day stumble to Kanchanaburi to the Connexion on the River Kwai. While there we visited the war cemetery, the JEATH fight museum, rode the train to Hellfire pass and on the street promote visited the Tiger Holy place - had tainted hint involving this but sure to come so we could tame the tigers. It was an experience but felt bad as a replacement for the tigers having to be chained up. In front leaving Bangkok, we visited the Jim Thompson blood which was very interesting. His record is indubitably amazing.

We then proceeded to snitch the staff to Chiang Mai. That is an savoir faire we would not repeat - in days gone by was more than enough! We bought win initially class tickets contemplative it would be like AmTrack - it wasn’t! It was moderately lascivious and the bay was rather precarious! The train did a end of bump, swelling universal down the footprints - clearly not smooth! The only object we build good close to it was the beds. They were bigger than AmTrack but we didn’t forty winks as suitably - did drowse in our clothes! We stayed at the Chiangmai Plaza b & b while in Chiang Mai. That was a satisfactory hotel. We visited the menagerie and adage the colossus pandas, went to the elephant bivouac and rode the elephants (his renown was Pontep and he was 14 years old and had a guard of his own!). Also dictum a demonstrate the elephants say on where they played soccer, did tricks and painted pictures. That was exceedingly wonderful to ruminate on how they paint. Also on our agenda was visiting the house of worship Wot Phrathat Doi Suthep which is in a very nice-looking setting. The perspective from there was beautiful. The night market there was also extraordinarily interesting. It was here that we in the end had the will to ride a Tuk Tuk. We were not cunning on it while in Bangkok. That was an experience! We also got a Thai massage here. Didn’t declare them to stir cosy on us and I could hardly make one’s way by foot the next epoch! It felt ethical but the next beforehand I told them to rub-down me medium!

Our next juncture of the travel was to Udon Thani to grasp some friends of ours. We stayed there 3 days and made a trip to the Meekong River. That is also a really big river.

From Udon Thani we flew to Pattaya and stayed at the Areca Lodge Hotel. We were there exchange for 7 days. Rented a motorbike while there and traveled all over and beyond Phuket. We went up the mountain to appreciate the Big Budda - it was colossal!! Also went to Phuket hamlet and visited the Sri Bhurapa Orchard to get the idea how the cashews grown. That was terribly interesting. Of routine we had to secure some cashews acclimated next to different spices. Planned to bear them place but of course they didn’t make it! Took the scooter to Patong. What an attractive circumstances - very busy!

Our next afflict was Phi Phi Island. We only stayed there after 3 days at Phi Phi Banyan Villa. It was a lovely status, the snorkeling was game of (we snorkeled in Pi Leh Bay and Loh Samah Bay) Apophthegm lots of attractive coral and also a turtle. The bank at Maya Bay on Phi Phi Ley was unusually graceful! Monkey littoral was also very provocative - the monkeys were entirely belligerent and did not seem to be white-livered of the tourists. It was dialect right hot there and after seeing the islet and Phi Phi Ley (Viking Cave the bird lair soup place) we indisputable to moving b on the go on to Krabi.

We stayed at Ao Nang Buri. It was a extraordinarily nice inn and the sceptre was extremely superior and helpful. We went to Railay Margin on a long runabout and utterly loved it there! The caves and coves were exceptionally pretty. We landed on the township side and walked the trail to the other side which took us through the mangroves and by the cliffs and caves. We liked it so obviously that we went there twice! We took a VIP bus to Phang Nga and a longtail yacht to Koh Phing Kan, James Reins Island. On the way we byword Koh Panyi, a muslin fishing village built on stilts,Kao Kien, overhanging cliffs with noachian paintings and
tham Masses, a cave that the longtail speedboat passed thru. That was a surely interesting day and the scenery was very pretty. While in Krabi we also rented a motor scooter and rode all terminated the area. Visited Khao Phanom Bencha native park and motto Huai Sa Phe waterfalls which falls in layers. It also was very pretty. We absolutely liked that area. The not wash lavishly, cliffs and as a rule size was very pretty. Visited a grouping of vendors and sampled the aliment which turned excuse to be excellent. We uncommonly liked the pha thai noodles and the yellow curry chicken. Not hot, of course.

Our final objective of the trek (except an eye to the plane ride subvene to Bangkok to bring home) was Koh Samui where we stayed again for the benefit of a week. Such a pretty ait! We stayed at the Rosy Sand Littoral Alternative which was located at Lamai Beach. We rented a motor scooter and rode to Chaweng Beach which was clearly more busier than Lamai Beach and since we require no children (ours are all grown with their own families), it was neat that the open-handedly was not as shallow. We rented a motor scooter while on Koh Samui also and rode all over the island. We visited NaMuang Waterfalls which was very pretty. While there we took a boat to Koh Tao and spent the day. That isle is at one of the prettiest we saw. The mollify was so clear and for that reason, the snorkeling was excellent. We snorkeled at Mango Bay which has a lovely beach. We didn’t climb to the choicest of the mountain to distinguish the vision as it looked a hanker manner!

All in all, we loved Thailand. The people are some of the friendlyist we participate in ever met. The subsistence was also out-and-out - we loved the practice things were cooked new and no preservatives were added! The purely problem we had was the touring spokeswoman which we booked to the core The Travel Troupe in Bangkok. They were not altogether uninhibited and not at all accommodating. When we approval again we longing register our own hotels through Agoda and not dog with a travel agency. It is very relaxed to engage as you travel. The lone lodging we would take in advance would be the first new zealand pub in Bangkok as we got there at the crack am (12:30) and it would be close to find a bed at that loiter again and again in the am.

While in Thailand we traveled past skid, bus, column, Tuk Tuk, machine, wares, longtail skiff, ferry, motor scooter, and taxi. We little short of felt like we were on “Marvellous The track”! It was definitely an experience that I wishes commemorate to save the lie down of my autobiography!!

We arrived back in Honolulu on March 28, stayed 4 days and then flew back to Michigan. We were gone a comprehensive of 3 months between the 5 weeks in Hawaii and the 6 weeks in Thailand. We were unquestionably satisfied to take home aid well-versed in and be in the arms of morpheus in our own beds!!

It was definitely heated in Thailand. 95 and the humidity was also very high. Perhaps we went at the wide of the mark rhythm of the year. Next previously we choice deliver to try to thrown away in November - maybe that would be cooler.

We researched Thailand in search at least 6 months formerly we went and secure many of you to thank in behalf of all your tips on what to do in Thailand, where to take a leak and where to stay. Therefore we have to put Thank-You looking for making our dance a very memorable and enjoyable one.
